Registering, step by step
- Create (or dust off) a College Board account—the same one that holds PSAT scores and AP registrations.
- Pick from the roughly seven test dates per year and choose a test center; seats at convenient centers go early.
- Upload a recognizable photo, pay the fee (currently about $68), and save the admission ticket.
Fee waivers cover more than the test
Eligible students register free through a school counselor—and the waiver bundle includes unlimited score sends plus college application fee benefits at participating schools. If cost is a factor, ask; counselors process these routinely.
Test day, digital edition
- Install the Bluebook app and complete exam setup before test day—your admission ticket depends on it.
- Bring your own fully charged laptop or tablet, or request a loaner device when registering.
- The format is adaptive with two modules per section, about 2 hours 14 minutes total—shorter than the paper era, with a Desmos calculator built into all of the math.
